AREAS OF RESEARCH
In graduate school Dr. Kuehl conducted research in the areas of preformulation, formulation and evaluation of formulations for delivery of small molecules. Specifically, these research experiences included solubility measurement, stability determination, and utilization of different solubilization techniques to increase solubility, solid state drug characterization, formulation development, in vivo evaluation and PK analysis of developed formulations. A portion of Dr. Kuehl’s work was conducted in collaboration with the Arizona Cancer Center in developing topical formulations for clinically evaluating new agents for chemoprevention of skin cancer. At Lovelace Dr. Kuehl utilizes his experience in formulation development to create, characterize and optimize formulations of potential active pharmaceutical ingredients for inhalation drug delivery from a wide range of devices. Of particular interest to Dr. Kuehl is the work conducted in the LRRI Imaging facility. In this capability Dr. Kuehl works to utilize advances in imaging to explore deposition and biodistribution of radiolabeled materials in different test systems. Dr. Kuehl also manages Lovelace’s Chemistry department which includes analytical chemistry and bioanalytical chemistry.
