The American Thoracic Society will hold Their Annual Meeting
May 13 - 18, 2011 in Denver, Colorado
At the ATS conference this weekend in Denver, CO, LRRI scientists Shannon Bruse, Hans Petersen, and Yohannes Tesfaigzi will present new research that showsthe results of a study in a cohort of smokers.
It was found those with Hispanic ethnicity are less at risk for COPD and are protected from rapid decline in lung function. In a population of heavy current and former smokers, non-Hispanic white ethnicity is associated with rapid decline of lung function compared to Hispanic ethnicity, and this difference cannot be explained by smoking.
This work, as a poster, and many other posters respresenting the research of LRRI will be available after the conference in the Institutional Repository.
