AREAS OF RESEARCH
Dr. Sopori's current research is directed to: (a) investigate the molecular mechanism of nicotine-induced immunosuppression, (b) explore the effects of nicotine on the inflammatory response in the lung and its possible role in the susceptibility to opportunistic infections, (c) examine the prospect of using nicotine to study the neuroimmune modulation, and (d) identify gene(s) which affect the sensitivity/resistance to ethanol-induced immunosuppression.
