Occupational pneumoconiosis and the development of diagnostic criteria and standards; correlation of pathological, radiological and physiological aspects of pneumoconiosis; analytical electron microscopy and X-ray spectroscopy of mineral dust particles in lungs; toxicity of hydrogen sulphide; role of vagal C-afferent fibres in pulmonary defense; experimental models of asbestos carcinogenesis; hydrogen sulphide toxicity; pathogenesis of fatal asthma.
