Pathophysiology of Diseases
Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute (LRRI) is recognized internationally as a center of excellence for research on the causes and pathogenesis of cancer and noncancer respiratory tract diseases. These capabilities are available to meet investigative needs related to improved understanding of diseases and health risks, toxicology, development of diagnostics, and approaches to intervention through behavior, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices.
Key Capabilities:
- Respiratory tract dosimetry, injury, and repair
- Respiratory tract cancer, including genetic and cellular mechanisms, early detection, susceptibility factors, and animal-human extrapolation
- Pulmonary immune responses, including those to inhaled antigens, determinants of asthma, and effects of inhaled agents on normal immune responses
- Respiratory and cardiovascular physiology, including hypobaric and high-altitude responses and blood substitutes
- Cell secretion, signaling, receptors, and cell-cycle control
- Delivery and efficacy of inhaled pharmaceuticals
- Confidential, proprietary, and intellectual property agreements
- Compliance with Good Laboratory Practice regulations and other customer requirements
